Different composts explained, when to spread, and how much

By letter2self on October 28, 2022

Questions about compost include what is the best time to spread it, does it leach nutrients, how much to use each year, does it make bed level keep rising, what are the differences between purchased composts and homemade – and is manure compost?

I use my garden and samples of different composts to answer these questions. The timings are here.

Timecodes
00:00 Introduction
01:00 Best time to spread, it’s not fertiliser, does not leach nutrients
02:55 How much compost to spread
05:45 Why the soil level barely rises
06:40 How much compost per 1/16 acre allotment
09:00 TYPES 1 Homemade compost

10:55 3 Fresh horse manure
12:00 Difference between hay and straw
13:00 4 Old horse manure
