How to Whitewash Furniture. AMAZING RESULTS! Make money from upcycling and whitewashing furniture! Whitewashing is a painting technique used to give the piece you’re working on that beautiful rustic, loved in look. Basically, whitewash is watered down paint and is generally acrylic-based (not oil-based). Instead of mixing up your own paint for the whitewash effect, for this project I’m using a pre-mixed product from Monsta called Colourwash. The Colourwash range is an effective whitewashing paint as it’s a full-strength paint that is translucent, meaning that the timber grain beneath the paint can be seen through it. Often if someone is after that Scandinavian look, this is the type of paint that they use.
Whitewashing wood is a very effective way to age and weather the look of your piece which is why it really appeals to me since most of my projects are reclaimed wood related.
Be sure you watch right through to the end of the whitewashing video as l reveal how much the dresser is now worth after all the work has been done to it!
Whitewashing furniture is a great way to make extra money as there isn’t a lot of work in it and the cost of materials is minimal. The trick is to make good purchase decisions in the first place. Buy your upcycled piece as cheaply as you possibly can. The cheaper you can pick it up for, the more money you’ll make at the other end!
