Hey guys! This is definitely a video I have been super excited about to say the least. I am excited to share with you today the things I think about when shopping for items at my local supermarket:
– I always make 2 lists on my phone or computer, one for meals and one for ingredients needed. This reduces food waste and saves money! WIN WIN!
– I always remember my bags of all sizes for produce and other items. It really does not matter what kind, I am an advocate for using things until the end of their useful life! Zero waste does not need to be Instagram-perfect.
– I try and find a more climate-friendly way of getting to the store.
– Canned goods are a great option, and you get get healthy legumes that cook quickly this way! Aluminum options are a good alternative.
– Buy loose produce wherever possible, substitute ingredients that play similar roles in recipes when deciding about this.
– Buy meat and fish in your own container (I hope this is not a health violation?)
– Get bread or bagels in your own reused bag (again, if you have a plastic bag lying around, use it!)
– Always check the discount rack! You can score some great things from there!
– Look for options in glass, paper, cardboard packages
– Buy bigger portions of things you most like to eat (ie like my massive bag of pasta) I am relatively happier, and the Earth is relatively happier. WIN WIN!
