Sri Lankan Rambutan Recipes Sweet and Sour Sinhalese Fruit Dishes (Sri Lankan Traditional Cuisine)

By letter2self on April 17, 2023

Rambutan is a fruit that is found in tropical parts of Asia and is recognizable by its bright red color and exterior that looks like messy hair (in fact, rambutan comes from the Malay word for hair).
️ This refreshing fruit is similar to lychee and can be eaten alone or as a key ingredient in many Sri Lankan dishes!
Today, I’ll share some of my favorite rambutan recipes with you.

As usual, I start by harvesting many of my own ingredients right from nature; join me as I walk through the countryside collecting fresh rambutan.
️ This fruit is surprisingly versatile and I’ll make a spicy rambutan pickle, payasam (a sweet pudding, rambutan curry, and a refreshing rambutan and Ceylon olive drink!

What are some of the unique fruits found in your country or continent that are rare in other parts of the world? Let me know in the comments below!
