In episode 9 of our Sustainability Series, we return to where the series began—the Salomon winter sports department—to see how the teams are implementing new design philosophies into their product creation processes to make less impactful equipment and gear.
Our host, Tim Sweeney, learns about the use of recycled materials in the new MTN ski touring rage of skis and boots, stops by the apparel department to check in on this season’s latest creations modelled by employees, and talks helmet design with the protective team. Finally, Tim visits the ski prototype area to learn how the team is taking the waste material created from the ski production process and re-using it in the sidewalls of the new Addikt Pro ski.
As usual, we hear from some pro athletes, too. Salomon freeski team members Emma Patterson and Greg Hill tell us that even with all these sustainable design efforts, the Salomon winter sports products they rely on in the big mountains are still as high-performing as ever.
