A More Sustainable Adventure

Singer 201 and 201k introduction and threading . First time sewing.

By letter2self on July 13, 2023

My apologies for the loud noise/ lack of balance at the beginning of this video. But it gets better later on…
(I find it difficult to mix sound due to my hearing disabilities.)

How to operate a Singer 201/ 201k domestic sewing machine?
From the start = winding a bobbin, up to threading and up to the (very first time) sewing with this top of the line Singer sewing machine!

Don’t worry: The original 201 and the restyled 201 mark 2 share the same internal parts!
The only difference is the weight: The mark 1 is made of cast iron and the mark 2 has a aluminum housing.
Right… and the hooks on the front plate… Nearly forgot that one 🙂

Timestamps:
0:00 201 mark 1, and the 201 mark 2
1:40 Winding a bobbin
2:10 Placing the bobbin
2:30 Threading the machine

Featured machines:
‘Left the factory yesterday?’ 1939 Singer 201k
‘They tried to break me but failed!’ – a 1955 Singer 201 mark 2 (black)

I have multiple vids online on Singer sewing machines. Feel free to watch more…

(Might be I used a Sony PDW650 and/or a Sony FS7 for additional footage.)

Note: English is not my native language. My sincere apologies for any mispronunciations!
