Hügelkultur is an ancient technique burying wood and sticks in the garden to add carbon and other elements to the soil. Our ancestors who practiced this probably weren’t aware the contents of the wood actually fed soil life which in turn produced the fertilizer for their plants to eat and grow. Just have to keep in mind as the wood decomposes nitrogen is locked up in the process until the wood is entirely finished, not a bad event, just have to be aware as to what will grow with less nitrogen.
