Because of budget cuts associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the New York City Department of Sanitation has officially suspended the city’s composting program through June 30, 2021.
And while there are grassroots efforts underway to reverse this decision, we’ve been left to our own devices when it comes to figuring out alternative ways to compost.
So this week Lucy tries 3 ways to compost: a backyard bin, a worm bin, and drop off.
Lucy also speaks with the creators of Sharewaste, an app that helps you find composting sites in your neighborhood.
