It’s late spring and this year’s hotbed, now two months old is still warm and helping to propagate thousands of seedlings. When it finishes being useful towards the end of spring, we wheelbarrow the contents to an outside heap, enclosed by pallets.
We did this last year and the contents of that hotbed have now transformed to compost. You can see it on the soil surface of my greenhouse.
Next we plant summer vegetables through that and into the soil. They include tomatoes, melons, aubergines.
The climate is temperate oceanic, 51 N., No Dig garden of Charles Dowding.
