Well working compost is every gardeners key to success. I do hot composting combined with “vermicomposting” also know as worm composting. I use burrowing worms in my compost pile, which consume all organic matter and turn it into nutrient rich worm castings. I call this method hybrid composting and I find it to be the most efficient and well working method way to produce quality plant food.
In hot composting you need to use manure to achieve the key temperature 30-70 C or 86-158 F for eliminating harmful fungi, virus and bacteria in the plant matter. In this temperature also the weed seeds will get destroyed.
I´ve been preparing ready compost with this method in just few weeks even though day night temperatures shift in between +5 C – +15 C.
ONE IMPORTANT THING THAT I FORGOT TO MENTION in the video is that you need to cover your compost with a tarp the trap the heat in and keep it protected from the rain.
