Today we’re making our own DIY, vegan, zero-waste body butter!

I’m just going to go ahead and say it… I’m not very DIY.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m crafty in my own way. For example, I’m surprisingly adept at creating bespoke paper pockets out of index cards in books and planners, building IKEA furniture, and I love rigging up make-shift systems for things. (Ask me sometime to tell you about my paper towel holder…) But I don’t really make my own shoes, or bird feeders, or candle holders out of jars, and up ’til now, I’ve never really made my own beauty products. That’s more Chloe’s schtick (and she’s rrreal good at it.)
That being said, I believe in myself, and the power of doing research, and… well, I was motivated.
Reducing Waste
See, here’s the thing… We really ought to reduce our one-use plastic consumption and overall waste production. There’s no excuse these days, knowing what we know. And it just ain’t mindful living to consume, consume, consume, like we’ve grown up doing.
As such, I’ve created a zero-waste body butter. It’s not rocket science, nor is my recipe particularly unique, I just wanted to de-mystify the process if you, too, have been hiding from homemade cosmetics like I had been.
Pure Ingredients
In addition to saving the planet bit by bit, as I mention in the video, most lotions and creams on the market have waaaaay too many ingredients, many of them either nebulous, and/or harmful.
Do some research (see links below), but suffice it to say, one of the only ways you’re going to be 100% sure that what you’re putting on your skin isn’t harmful at all is to either find some hippie mom and pop cosmetics company (they do exist), or make it yourself. And the latter is certainly the most cost effective and, if I’m being honest, feel-goody. (Seriously. After making this body butter a couple times now, I’m feelin’ like an bonafide Earth Mama.)
So give today’s recipe a try. If I can do it, so can you!
Reducing our ecological footprints and feel mighty proud in the process! Yes!
Definitely leave me comment below to let me know if you make this homemade body butter! And please let me know which essential oils you added so that I can try your propriety blends on my next batch. 😉
xo,
Ann
